TEXAS DAIRY HERD IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION
Your milk testing company
Let us help you make your herd management decisions.
MILK WEIGHTS & SAMPLING
The process starts with one of our QC certified field service technicians in your parlor. We record milk production and collect milk samples for each cow. Your data is then left with you and samples sent for analysis at one of our two certified laboratories. And if you choose to process your records we send your data to one of the DRPCs for processing. Let us help you make your herd management decisions.
We offer milk and blood serum pregnancy testing for your cows or goats. We use the IDEXX Alertys tests to get you results the same day we receive your samples. The milk pregnancy is 98% accurate and the blood is 99% accurate. We deliver reliable results, that help you make early and confident decisions regarding your herd.
JOHNE'S DISEASE TESTING
We currently offer ELISA testing for Johne's disease. Through this test, producers can receive a subclinical identification of the disease which can shed the organism over long periods and thus be the source of infection for other members of the herd. It is important to identify these positive infections to help manage outbreaks within your herd. The test takes 4 hours to complete and you will have your results within 24 hours of the receipt of the samples.
We offer two types of testing to the tri-state area for your herd: owner sampler, test type 40, and DHIR official testing, test type 20. You or your tester complete the test day (record milk weights and collect samples) and ship them to one of our labs. We enter the data and analyze your samples. Results are then sent over to the DRPC to complete processing. From there the data is matched to the doe and then submitted to the CDCB.
Over the years, Texas DHIA has proudly helped many researchers in the state of Texas and the universities with various research projects. We are for research and the advancement of dairy technology and dairy herd management. If you are looking to start a research project and wondering if we can help, please reach out to us.
DIAGNOSTIC SCREENING OF BOVINE MASTITIS USING MALDI-TOF: MS DIRECT-SPOTTING OF MILK AND MACHINE LEARNING
We recently teamed with researchers at the Texas Tech University Veterinary School in Amarillo, TX on a mastitis study. Our General Manager was listed as a co-author in this piece that was published in a veterinary science journal. You can read more about this research by clicking the article below.
